CEREC Dental Restorations

CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic, is an innovative new technology that allows Dr. Farr to create your restorations directly in the office..

We use CEREC to with both Inlays & Onlays and Crowns

CEREC uses computer-assisted design (CAD) along with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) in a revolutionary new process. The ceramic restorations that are tailor made for you are metal free and colored to match the natural appearance of your teeth. The result is a tooth restoration that is natural, fully functional, and stronger than other types of restorations with a lifespan of 15+ years.

The CEREC Process

CEREC technology with its CAD / CAM design and manufacturing functions allows us to design and mill your customized restoration faster than traditional methods and give us more control over the accuracy of our crowns and restorations.

  1. Initial Exam
We start with an examination of your dental condition to determine the best solution for a damaged tooth. If a CEREC restoration is right for you, we will prepare your tooth for the process. This may involve getting rid of any decay or weakened tissue.
  2. Digital Impression
Next we will make an optical impression of the tooth using a digital camera scan. This scan is then converted into a 3 dimensional replica of the tooth so that a restoration can then be made. This step eliminates the needs for the clay-like impressions traditionally used.
  3. Creation of the Restoration
The CEREC milling device is then be used to manufacture the customized restoration piece from the virtual model made in step 2. We will use a correctly colored ceramic block as our starting piece so that your restoration blends naturally with your tooth.
  4. Final Fitting
The restoration piece is then fitted to your mouth for a proper bite. Then it is polished and bonded to your tooth. This is the final step. No return visit will be necessary.

A State of the Art Technology
